Build Your Brand at Little Cost with UGC

October 28th, 2008

User-generated content started being a hot topic a couple of years ago. It’s not that marketers are truly ignoring it, but I think it’s fair to say that the buzz has fizzled a bit.

Perhaps this has something to do with an economy that’s been sticking its tongue out at the public for about a year now. Ya think?

Of course, that has something to do with it. Marketers are really focused on tried-and-true tactics right now because the bottom line means more than usual — particularly staffers’ jobs.

Well, maybe more UGC is the answer if you do it right. It costs little. Let people ‘evangelize’ for you, for heaven’s sake.

All you have to do is put in a good program and manage it effectively. OK, that is easier said than done.

But I wrote an article about Zappos.com that shows how much cooler (and smarter-looking) your brand can be for little cost. Can an online community be created via email?

Yes, it can.

Too bad this is older as Marketing Sherpa has generally great/relevant content.
